O crescimento no número de casos críticos entre as pessoas infectadas pelo novo coronavírus expõe momento de atenção para os hospitais da Associação Educadora São Carlos (AESC) que complementam a Rede de Atenção à Saúde no litoral norte do RS.
O Hospital Santa Luzia, em Capão da Canoa, e o Hospital Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes, em Torres, atingiram o limite da capacidade, o que exigiu a restrição dos acessos na Emergência de ambos a partir desta quinta-feira, 4 de março, com foco na acolhida das pessoas em estado de saúde mais crítico.
Mesmo com equipes dedicadas em oferecer o melhor atendimento às pessoas que chegam aos hospitais, a demanda se apresenta acima da capacidade de oferta, mas para um retorno da situação a patamares mais aceitáveis, a colaboração da sociedade com as medidas de proteção é fundamental.

Na última semana de fevereiro, a Secretaria Estadual da Saúde e as prefeituras locais, e da região abrangida pelas duas unidades, atuaram para o incremento de dez respiradores, cinco para cada hospital. Em Torres, foi retomada a operação de 15 leitos no sábado, 27, para pacientes com quadro moderado de Covid-19. Em Capão da Canoa, na ala da Enfermaria, cinco leitos foram equipados para funcionar como UTI, desde o dia 1º de março. Mesmo com todos esses reforços de estrutura, o número de casos cresce acima da capacidade de absorção, com todas as vagas ocupadas.

“A situação é crítica em Capão da Canoa e Torres, com o uso de todos os leitos disponíveis. Não há vagas na UTI e nossas Emergências precisaram controlar a demanda espontânea, restringindo os atendimentos somente aos casos críticos, pois estão com pessoas em estado gravíssimo. Mesmo com o reforço de estrutura, contratação de profissionais e uso de horas-extras, assim como medidas para reforçar o estoque de medicamentos, materiais e gases medicinais, a demanda está muito acima da nossa capacidade de absorção. É importante que a comunidade entenda a gravidade do momento e possa se solidarizar adotando medidas de proteção. Somente juntos vamos superar essa situação”, afirma o diretor executivo da Saúde Pública da AESC, Maximiliano Marques.
Hospital Santa Ana
Em Porto Alegre, a AESC mantém no Bairro Teresópolis, Zona Sul da Capital, o Hospital Santa Ana. Embora não tenha Emergência, sua atuação como “Hospital dos hospitais”, com leitos regulados pela Secretaria Municipal da Saúde, o habilita a receber pacientes do Sistema Único de Saúde para cuidados prolongados. Pessoas com Covid-19 ocupam 80% das vagas de UTI, estando os demais com internação por outras enfermidades.
